Two years ago, a very dear friend passed on.

He was only 49 years old.

This post isn’t about his sudden passing from stroke. An occurrence that his family and friends like me are still processing.

Instead, I like to share about the beautiful transformative arc of his life prior to that.

I first got to know him about 15 years ago when he attended one of my workshops. He was a most enthusiastic participant who was jolly and very thoughtful towards fellow participants. He later contacted me for 1-1 sessions and that’s when more information unfolded.

At that time, he was going through a most painful depressive period. His wife has just initiated a divorce saying he wasn’t good enough. He was also the primary caregiver for his grandparents.

He wanted to create a happier life moving forward. And we did that. Step by step. Besides the 1-1 sessions with me, he also embarked on self-development. He also accepted invitations to socialize. During the whole journey, we became close friends.

Fast forward a few years. I was his wedding coordinator for his wedding ceremony. His new wife is a most beautiful and kind person. In fact, they met when he was helping me with a talk that I gave. (Power of saying yes!)

They soon welcome the birth of a daughter and a new stage of life. I know how happy he was with his new life and the immense joy that they brought him.

Yes he is gone too soon. It still feels surreal at times. But I’m happy for him that he enjoyed the brighter happier life that he envisioned when he first approached me for sessions.

It’s stories like his that I hold close to my heart and why I continue to offer my Flourish 1-1 sessions. Everyone can flourish at any stage of their lives.
