It’s lovely to have the opportunity to attend local events in my travels.

Had the pleasure to share a poem and two short stories at last evening’s The Storylands Sessions. The Storylands Sessions are a series of music and storytelling events in Badenoch led by musician, Hamish Napier, and writer, Merryn Glover.

Last evening’s show was part of the Scottish International Storytelling Festival ‘Go Local’ programmme which featured guest storytellers Inés Álvarez Villa and David Francis from The Scottish Storytelling Centre and other contributors. The theme: Right To Be Human with this year being the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

My Story #1: Samsui Women
Remember my Samusi Women poem? I had the opportunity to share it last night. Love the tribute to the Samsui Women and also many others who toil & sweat still. Reflection: how might we allow others to flourish at work?

My Story #2: The Orange
It’s a story about my maternal grandma and her gift of love to me. Reflection: how might we allow others to gift us with their love?

My Story #3: Life
Remembering the beauty of the different seasons of our life. Reflection: how might we continue to embrace our superpower regardless of the season in our lives?

These get togethers provide opportunities for one and all to share. Such a joyous evening spent listening to and watching the musicians, storytellers and singers from all age groups.

It’s the first time that I’ve shared a poem in public. Thanks Merryn for inviting me to share! 💝
