You’ve no value.
That’s what I was told when I decided to return to the corporate world.
The person who shared with me possibly thought he was sharing with me practical information about the real world.
Well intentioned but certainly not useful nor uplifting. 😅
Compared this to others who:
🥰 asked me what areas am I interested in pursuing new opportunities and connected me with their contacts.
👂🏼 provided me with listening ear to funstorm ideas.
💕 offered useful suggestions for example, preparing my resume, attending relevant courses and so on.
When others share with you their dreams, pause before declaring a judgement on it. Ask clarifying questions or provide resources for them to explore.
For most of us, we are already harsh enough with ourselves and our own biggest critics. With the bombardment of negative news daily, we are well aware of the real world.
Let’s amplify goodness and kindness instead through empathy and asking useful questions for greater clarity and possibilities.
I believe everyone has a worth, my way of stimulating my thought process on how i met people who have integrated into my life is to have keywords or key memories of them that then usually makes me smile and allows all the memories to come flooding back. My Nan for example is football, brown ale, balcony, coconut cake and very flat yorkshire puddings. This allows me to conjure up memories and stories and experiences. I often find myself lost in thought.
I use it as a tool to train people too. Love this website and looking forward to reading all the blogs and experiences.
Thanks for sharing John! Love the keywords and memories strategy.
